Data for Median Income by Educational Attainment are from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey, 1-Year Estimates, and include the population 25 years and over with earnings. All income values .have been inflation-adjusted and are reported in 2016 dollars, using the Bay Area consumer price index for all urban consumers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics for Silicon Valley and San Francisco data, the California consumer price index for all urban consumers from the California Department of Finance May Revision Forecast (April 2017) for California data, and the U.S. city average consumer price index for all urban consumers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics for U.S. data. Silicon Valley data includes Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. The 2008 value for those with a graduate or professional degree is for San Mateo County only because the Santa Clara County data reported median income in that category as $100,000+.

Some College includes Less than 1 year of college; Some college, 1 or more years, no degree; Associate degree; Professional certification. The 2008 value for Graduate or Professional Degree is for San Mateo County only.
